Doug Macdonald, Vice President, and Principal of Aqua Engineering has been a professional member of ASIC since 1987. He has been a key member of the Association for those thirty-seven years, serving as ASIC’s national president from 1994-1996;  President of both the Northern California and Southwest ASIC Chapters; and the ASIC Board of Directors for two separate terms. He has participated as a presenter or moderator at many of our National Conferences and chaired National Conferences in 1996 and 2013 and Regional Conferences in 2011 and 2016. He was also a key participant in the most recent Strategic Planning Committee, and integral in creating and launching the Certified Professional Irrigation Consultant exam.

Macdonald is the embodiment of ASIC’s stated goals and principles through his widely recognized leadership, professionalism, and vision. He is a strong advocate for independent irrigation development, design and management and faithfully seeks to represent the best interests of both the client and the environment. His national recognition as a skilled irrigation professional and his advocacy for responsible water resource management serves to elevate ASIC and our profession in addition to his own well-deserved status.

Macdonald was honored with ASIC Fellow status in 2015. At the time of his induction, he committed to following the role of the other Fellows by continuing to freely share his time, experience, and knowledge to further the Society and profession. He certainly has met that commitment, and ASIC is the better for it.
